The Innocent make out.
Am I the only one who was a little weirded out by the fact that Miss Giddens basically made out with Miles at the end of The Innocents? It seemed very out of place and inappropriate, especially taking into consideration the fact that she held a creepy obsession in regard to Miles' behaviors as well as his thoughts of her. The odd need for validation from Miles that he knew of Peter Quint was a bit unsettling too. Is it a comment on the need from women to validate their beliefs from the closest man they know? Miss Giddens didn't seem to question Flora, or the other governess nearly as much as she did Miles. Thoughts?

I agree with you that this scene was extremely creepy, much like the rest of the film, but I think that Miss Giddens definitely sought and questioned others to validate her beliefs, just as much or even more than Miles. Mrs. Grose was throughout her sounding board for her ideas, as she seemed to need someone else to be able to see what she saw in order to prove her sanity. But your idea is intriguing, as society certainly would have needed a man's validation.
